Message From The Dean And Director

On 20th February 2008, the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Prof. Dato’ Dr.Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hassan Sahabuddin announced the decision to combine the Faculty of Medicine and Hospital UKM into a unified, fully integrated academic medical centre, called the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre. As the newly appointed Dean and Director, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC). This merger bring together the superb clinical facilities and staff of HUKM and the excellent research and educational capabilities of the Faculty of Medicine. It will enhance our already high quality medical and health education, scientific research and patient care. This integration will also promote a more collaborative culture, one that is more responsive to patients, physicians, scientists, nurses and staffs, and create a more productive working environment. It will strengthen accountability, improve transparency and create better organizational efficiencies. Our vision is to become the leading and competitive academic hub based on knowledge innovation and dedicated teams of health professionals for the development of a healthy and informed society. We have a mission to provide quality education for health profesionals and services of the highest standard based on research, evidence-based medicine, innovation and social sensitivities. As we continue to work together in this fully integrated medical centre and in a more collaborative culture, I am confident we will make UKMMC a world class institution in research, education and patient care.
